Gadsden city runoff elections today



Today is the City of Gadsdens  municipal runoff election but only voters in the cities district 5 will be going to the polls.   District 5 includes South Gadsden and the downtown historic districts.
Councilman Bill Stewart, who is seeking a fifth term, is facing  challenger Billy Billingsley Sr.
Billingsley received 375 votes, or 42.4 percent, to Stewart’s 348 votes, or 39.3 percent, in the municipal election Aug. 26. Gloria Allenstein finished third with 162 votes, or 18.3 percent. Turnout for that election was about 36 percent citywide.
Voting will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Today at Convention Hall and The Tabernacle.
