Oxford insurance agent arrested

An Oxford insurance agent has been arrested, accused of stealing from a customer.

53 year old David Anthony King, of Jacksonville was arrested Wednesday by Oxford police and charged with felony theft by deception. He was released the same day on a $15,000 bond.

A woman reported to police that she discovered she had not had homeowners insurance since August 2013, but had been making her payments to King, her agent, as usual.

King owns the Premier Insurance Agency at 909 Snow St. in Oxford. The business had formerly been located at 6 Hamric Drive in Oxford. The agency sells commercial and residential home, auto and life insurance.  Investigators are asking  anyone who has purchased insurance through King to contact the insurance company for the policy.
