Search continues for woman missing at speedway

Theresa Benn

The search continues for a Calhoun County woman who disappeared before the running of the Geico 500 over a week ago.
According to Lincoln Police Department investigator Shannon Hallmark, the department has enlisted the aid of outside sources to help find 42-year-old  Theresa Benn of Ohatchee.
Hallmark said search dog units from Huntsville Emergency Medical Services and Etowah County Rescue Squad were brought in to search the areas near Speedway Boulevard where Benn was last seen.
She added members of the Talladega County Sheriff’s Department and Lincoln Fire and Rescue have also participated in the search efforts.
Benn, who is 5 feet, 5 inches tall and weighs 108 pounds, was reported missing Sunday evening after the race had concluded. She was last seen wearing blue jeans, pink cowboy boots, a black tank top and a large, diamond-covered belt and buckle.
Benn was with her husband prior to leaving him behind because she wanted to go to the race and he did not.
Anyone with any information on the whereabouts of Benn is asked to contact Lincoln police at 205-763-4063 or 256-761-1556.
