Longtime Walnut Councilman/Fire Chief passes away

Residents in the Western Etowah County town of Walnut Grove are mourning the loss of longtime Councilman and Fire Chief Alvin Goolsby.Goolsby who was 67, died Wednesday. This month marked Goolsby's 30th year as a Walnut Grove councilman. He supervised the town's volunteer fire department and had been its chief for almost that long.  Walnut Grove Mayor Autry Works praised Goolsby. Calling him an outstanding fire chief and an outstanding councilman.
