The AHSAA board members will vote today on a proposal that
could add a seventh classification to the states high school sports. The
"7A" class would potentially consist of the thirty-two or thirty-six
biggest schools in the state. Using the 2012 numbers used the last time schools
were reclassified, that would include Hoover, Vestavia Hills, Pelham, Oak
Mountain, Spain Park, Tuscaloosa County, Gadsden City, Mountain Brook, Shades
Valley, and Hewitt-Trussville.
The decision will be announced lalter today at the AHSAA
office in Montgomery.
