Second victim in Calhoun Crash dies



Authorities say that A second victim in a Wednesday crash last week on U.S. 78 has died in a Birmingham hospital.  80 year old Catherine McCormick,  of Heflin, died at UAB Hospital on Sunday afternoon  according to Calhoun County Coroner Pat Brown.  The cause of her death was multiple blunt force trauma.  McCormick was a passenger in a car driven by her daughter 64 year old Cathy McComb, of Heflin.  State Troopers said the accident occurred when McComb’s vehicle collided with another at mile marker 171, about 5 miles from Heflin at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday night.  McComb got out of her car and was hit by a third vehicle. She was flown to UAB, where she died Wednesday.  McCormick was taken to Regional Medical Center on Wednesday and was later transferred to UAB, where she died Sunday.
Troopers said black ice on the road may have contributed to the crash. The cause of the wreck was still under .
