Prison inmate dies in stabbing incident



Alabama Department of Corrections officials say an inmate who was stabbed during a fight at the St. Clair County Correctional Facility has died.  According to Corrections spokesman Brian Corbett 24-year-old Marquette Cummings was pronounced dead Tuesday night at UAB Hospital after being stabbed in his face with a prison-made knife.  Cummings was hospitalized in critical condition after the stabbing and the inmate suspected in the man's death has said the stabbing was an act of self-defense.

Officials have said the incident stemmed from an ongoing dispute.
