Woman arrested in Cherokee County harvesting pot plants



A Cherokee County woman was arrested this week after a state trooper helicopter observed her harvesting marijuana plants.   45 year old Margaret Wadsworth Nichols, has been charged with trafficking marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and tampering with physical evidence. Personnel from the Department of Human Resources also responded to the scene because a minor child was present.  The agents spotted her allegedly cutting the plants beside a residence in the Cloudland community. They alerted the Cherokee County Drug Unit, who notified Chattooga County, Ga., deputies. Those deputies went to the scene until narcotics officers from Cherokee County could arrive.  Nichols is being held in the Cherokee County Detention Center on $26,000 bond.
