Talladega man arrested in hit and run

A 44 year old Talladega man has been arrested on felony charges after allegedly hitting his girlfriend with a car and not stopping. Calvin Dewayne Garrett had his initial court appearance Friday in front of District Judge Jeb Fannin, who set his bond at $20,000. Talladega police say that Garrett was in his 2004 Dodge Neon in the parking lot of City Court II Apartments having a conversation with his girlfriend, who was outside the car. Garrett then allegedly drove, knocking over the 40-year-old female victim and running over her leg, breaking it. Police said there were visible tire tracks on the victim’s leg. Witnesses described the vehicle, which was spotted by patrol officers and. Garrett was taken into custody without further incident.
