Statts submits resignation as Gadsden State President

The Alabama State Board of Education voted Thursday to approve the recommendation of Mark Heinrich, chancellor of the Alabama Community College System, to accept the resignation of Gadsden state community college president Raymont Staat. Staats has been on paid administrative since July following a no-confidence vote in his leadership by the college's employees. Staats will be paid through Dec. 31. Heinrich received Staats’ resignation letter in the last few days. Mary Scott Hunter, District 8 member of the state Board of Education said the decision is right for the college allowing both the college and Staats to move on.
