Interim head coach named at Southside High School

Ron Daugherty has been named the interim head football coach at Southside High School .. Daugherty takes over for Marty Smith, who resigned Wednesday after spending two seasons with the Panthers. Daugherty is a veteran assistant coach who has been the southside offensive coordinator since 2011. Linbackers coach Charles Nails will be taking over a defensive coordinator which had been handled by smith. The changes come just a week before the 2013 regular season is to. Daugherty is a graduate of Hokes Bluff and is in his 19th year of coaching. He came to Southside in 2011 after spending five years at Gadsden City High School as an assistant football coach.
