Hobson City clerk arrested for tampering with goverment records

The Hobson City town clerk has been arrested on charges that she used her position to benefit herself. 38 year old Shelia Jones, of Anniston turned herself in to the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office and has been freed on an $8,000 bond.
Jones is charged with tampering with governmental records and obstructing government operations, both misdemeanors. According to Hobson City Mayor Alberta McCrory Jones is responsible for managing payroll, and she was using that position to avoid paying her own wage garnishments by overriding the system. Jones had been hired by The Town Council in November on a temporary basis pending a background check. voted to hire Jones on a temporary basis in November, pending a background check which was never completed.
