Hokes bluff men charged with theft charges

Two Hokes Bluff men have been arrested on theft related charges.
50 year old Michael Todd Fleming, and 27 year old Cody Allan Lindsey, have both been charged with first-degree burglary and first-degree theft of property.
The two werer spotted by a Hokes Bluff Detective on Howell Street when he observed a white Ford Econoline van pulling a utility trailer loaded with property in front of a residence. The officer stopped the pair, who were getting ready to leave, and began to investigate. He noticed a large amount of property from the victim’s home on the trailer, but the pair were taken to a hospital because of dehydration.
Officers were notified when Fleming and Lindsey were being released and tried to arrest them. Etowah County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Fred Lasseter was the first to arrive and tried to take Fleming into custody. During a brief struggle, Fleming allegedly elbowed Lasseter in the chest and escaped. Lindsey tried to get away, but was caught by Glencoe Police Officer Pete Crow and Deputy Jeremy Lasseter in the parking lot.
Fleming eluded police for several hours before being caught about 8:20 p.m. by Roe, Sgt. Adam Butler and Gadsden Special Operations Officer Jason Coffman.
He and Lindsey were taken to the Etowah County Detention Center. No bond has been set.
