Longtime Piedmont Barber assaulted by Piedmont woman

A 24 year old Piedmont woman is facing assault charges after attacking Longtime Piedmont barber Curtis Pope with a crowbar in his Center Avenue shop. The 87 year old Pope was struck with a metal crowbar by Heather Baldwin. Baldwin had reportedly asked to borrow money from Pope. Witness said that Baldwin had been borrowing money from Pope for some time but when Pope told her no she attacked him. .Baldwin was arrested Saturday and charged with felony second-degree assault. Pope was released from Gadsden Regional Medical Center on Monday. Pope reportedly suffered a broken shoulder and injuries to both hands and his head.
