Anniston city manager search

After spending two days this week interviewing the top six candidates for the Anniston City managers job, The Anniston city council has decided it wants to interview the top two candidates in person. Council members hope to schedule Brian Johnson, the city manager of Garden City, Ga., and Gerald Smith, most recently director of general services in Kansas City, Mo., for overnight trips to include a tour of Anniston, a formal interview and a lunchtime meet-and-greet with the public. Council members say they want to move quickly in the selection process after their top two choices had already withdrawn from consideration before they made it to the first round of interviews. Among the council’s top six candidates are Scott Larese a former garrison commander at fort rucker, former Homewood city councilwoman Allyn Holladay and David Rutherford planner for the city of mcminnville Tennessee. Mayor Vaughn Stewart said Wednesday afternoon the other candidates aren’t out of the running yet; if necessary, the council will continue to bring candidates to town in pairs for more formal interviews and introduction to the community.
