Two area golf courses closed as management company reportedly plans bankruptcy

Members of the Pine Hill Country Club in Anniston showing up to play golf Monday only to find a lock on the door along with a note that says: “closed until further notice.” Other golfers say their membership isn’t set to expire until January. E & E Golf Management operates Pine Hill Country Club and golf course. They have not been available for comment and have not returned calls. According to a Facebook post by Calhoun County Golf , property owner Allan Goodson is en route and says his plan is to reopen the club and course as soon as possible, "possibly as early as today." Meanwhile the Talladega municipal golf course is also closed until further notice. The city had entered into a contract with E&E Golf Management to lease and manage the facility in 2011. That contract would have expired in 2016, with an option for a five-year extension.
Talladega City Manager Brian Muenger said he understood that the two partners in E&E were currently involved in litigation with each other, and that he understood the company would be declaring bankruptcy soon.
Muenger said ideally he did not want to see the city get back into the golf course management business right now. Neither of the owners of the management company could be reached for comment Monday afternoon, but co-owner Jason Edwards has said that the facilities had been shut down for “financial reasons.”
