Boaz man charged in Etowah home invasion

Etowah county Sheriff Todd Entrekin says a Boaz man has bee arrested charged in connection with theft of property in Etowah County.  38 year old Charles Marty Jacobs, has been charged with one count of first-degree burglary, two counts of third-degree assault and one count of resisting arrest.  Jacobs allegedly forced his way into a residence in the Smith Institute community, and demanded the 19-year-old homeowner leave. When the homeowner refused to leave, Jacobs assaulted him and also punched a 13-year-old when they tried to leave the residence to call 911 at a neighbor's home.  Deputies found Jacobs inside the residence, intoxicated and unconscious, on the living room couch. Jacobs became combative with deputies as they tried to remove him from the home, forcing them to use a Taser.  Jacobs is in the Etowah County Detention Center on bonds totaling $27,500.
