Drowning victim dies

Talladega county authorities say A 2-year-old boy injured near Salt Creek Road Saturday afternoon has died. Talladega County Sheriff Jimmy Kilgore said his office received word that the child passed away at Children’s Hospital in Birmingham Sunday.  The two year old had initially been transported to Regional Medical Center in Anniston, and then airlifted to Children’s from there. Kilgore said Investigators have no reason to believe that the incident was anything but an accident.  Investigators say that there were several people around, and the child’s parent’s were moving some larger items out of the house. There were also several children playing in the area, and one of the older kids was babysitting. The child fell into a pond belonging to a neighbor around 3 Saturday afternoon.
