Two children killed in Cleburne County fire

The Alabama State Fire Marshal says that two children died and several adults were injured in a house fire Thursday morning in Cleburne County.
A Passersby reported the fire around 7 a.m. Thursday. The fire happened on Highway 78 in the Fruithurst community.
The Fruithurst Volunteer Fire Department was one of the first to respond and Assistant Chief Chad Roberts says that when crews arrived, they found several people trapped in the home.  Roberts says crews were unable to reach the people trapped inside so they continued efforts to put out the fire. Six fire departments, the Cleburne County Sheriff's Office and the Alabama State Fire Marshal remained at the scene until 3 p.m. Thursday afternoon. The injured were taken to a hospital in Bremen, Ga. Alabama State Fire Marshal Ed Paulk says the children's deaths brings the 2014 fire fatalities to 18.
