Suspect held in attempted robbery at Pell City Park



An Ashville man remains in police custody after allegedly attempting to rob two women at knifepoint at Pell City’s Lakeside Park.
According to Pell City Police , 29 year old Terry Alan Hicks Jr., of Ashville, remains in the St. Clair County Jail on two misdemeanor warrant charges, but the suspect is expected to face additional felony charges.
Hicks is currently in jail for attempting to elude and reckless endangerment, both misdemeanor charges.
Hicks is expected to be charged with second-degree attempted kidnapping and with two counts of first-degree attempted robbery.
Hicks allegedly grabbed one of two women, who were walking at the park, and held a knife to her throat during what appeared to be an attempted robbery.  One of the women called 911 and he broke contact and fled from the scene. Witnesses saw the suspect get into a vehicle and relayed the description of the suspect and vehicle to authorities. Police spotted the suspect’s vehicle leaving the park and pursued Hicks, who traveled east on Stemley Bridge Road, toward Talladega County. Hicks was captured near Stemley Bridge, which connects Talladega and St. Clair counties, with assistance from the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department.
