The city of Gadsden has mailed postcards to the cities 18,500 registered
voters, informing them of next month’s election and where they will vote.
The cards inform residents of the Aug. 26
election and the runoff date of Oct. 7.
It
also tells them the council district they are in and where they will vote.
Officials say some residents will be in a
different council district because of redistricting after the 2010 Census.
The council also changed two voting locations
and added another for District 3.
In
District 1, voting place 1A moved from Living Truth Christian Center to Antioch
Baptist Church Family Life Center at 2103 E. Broad St.
In District 3, voting place 3A moved from the
former 12th Street Baptist Church, which now is Abundant Life Church, to the
former Gadsden High School Lunchroom at 607 S. 12th St.
Also in District 3, a voting location was
added at Thompson Community Center Gym. That also serves as a polling place for
District 2. Anyone who doesn’t receive a card should call the clerk’s office at
256-549-4516 to follow up.
