Speedway Summit

Officials with the Birmingham Business Alliance and Talladega Superspeedway will host a summit this week about the economic impact of the racetrack and how area businesses can use it to increase their bottom line. The event, called “NASCAR Summit —  Put Your Business in the Fast Lane,” will be held in Birmingham Thursday. Grant Lynch, chairman of the speedway since 1993, said the summit is for area chamber of commerce members, city officials and business owners who have an official relationship with the racetrack. For example, he said, an Oxford hotel owner who’s a member of the Hotel Owners Association would benefit from the event.
Lynch added that speedway officials will also release numbers about the racetrack’s economic impact in the area as well as the financial contributions the company makes to bring racing events to Alabama.
