Lincoln man free on bond for 2013 shootings arrested on drug charges

A Lincoln man out on bond in connection with a 2013 shooting has been arrested on drug charges.  23 year old Jonathon Virgil Davis, was pulled over by Lincoln Police early Sunday morning.  After obtaining consent to search the vehicle, task force agents found approximately three ounces of marijuana, a pipe used for smoking marijuana and a pistol.  The amount of marijuana was inconsistent with personnel use, which prompted a felony charge. According to assistant Talladega County District Attorney Christina Kilgore, Davis is also facing charges of attempted murder and shooting into an occupied dwelling. Those charges are currently pending before a grand jury, and stem from an incident on Roberson Road on Dec. 28, 2013. Officers responded to a shots fired call and discovered the body of 27 year old Deonte Strown, lying in the driveway.   A second victim, 46 year old Luann Storey, was transported to the hospital by private vehicle, but also succumbed to her wounds.  Since grand jury investigations are conducted in secret, what exactly happened that night remained unclear Monday.   Kilgore said the charges against Davis involved two different victims, and that one had subsequently died. Davis’s bond on the new charges was set at $500,000 by Talladega County District Court Judge Jeb Fannin. Kilgore said the state was preparing a motion to have Davis’s previous bond revoked, keeping him in jail until his trial.
