Gadsden Mayor Sherman Guyton qualified Tuesday to seek a
third term as the cities mayor.
Five incumbent council members also filed qualifying papers
on the opening day of qualifying : Robert Avery in District 3, Bob Echols in
District 4, Bill Stewart in District 5, Johnny Cannon in District 6 and Ben
Reed in District 7. Gary Ashley also
qualified and will oppose Reed in the District 7 race.
Qualifying ends July 15.
City elections will be Aug. 26 and runoffs, if necessary, will be Oct.
7. Gadsden voters will also be deciding
the issue of Sunday alcohol sales in the august 26th vote.
