Gadsden Mayor Sherman Guyton has drawn three opponents in his bid for a third term as mayor, and all seven City Council members also face challengers.
Qualifying ended Tuesday for the Gadsden city election, which is set for Aug. 26th.
The field of candidates includes two Gadsden police officers: Mitchell James is a candidate for mayor and Thomas Worthy is a candidate for Council District 3.
Gadsden Civil Service Board member J. Holland also is running for mayor.
District 1 commissioner Billy J. Harris is facing a challange from Cynthia L. Toles.
District 2 commissioner Deverick WIlliams is being challanged by Warren Alexander Dates, and Derrick Munson.
District 3 commissioner Robert Avery is facing a challange from Thomas Worthy.
District 4 commissioner Bob Echols will face Luther D. Abel, and Mike Goodson
District 5 commissioner Bill Stewart will face challangers Gloria Allenstein, Billy F. Billingsley Sr., and David Williams.
District 6 commissioner Johnny Cannon is being challanged by Alfred “Al” Oyler.
District 7 commissioner Ben Reed is being challanged by Gary Ashley, and Chris Robinson.
