Anniston Police make third arrest in 2012 murder



Anniston Police have made a third arrest in the 2012 shooting of a 24 year old Alabama National Guard Sergeant in her Anniston apartment.  Captain Alan George says the latest suspect was arrested in Georgia. 37 year old Kenyata Demetris Burton  of Anniston, was charged Wednesday morning with murder. Burton was arrested last week in Columbus, Ga., where he had been living.  Investigators say they believe this could be the final arrest made in the case.  Dequirea Royal was found dead in her Constantine Homes apartment on the afternoon of April 6, 2012. She died from a single gunshot wound to the head.  Royal was a sergeant in the Alabama National Guard’s 167th Forward Support Company in Oxford, where she worked as a cook.  On April 25, 2012, police charged 23 year old  of Anniston, with murder in connection with Royal’s death.   On Nov. 6, 2012, 25 year old Demontae Antwon Jonesof Anniston, was also charged with murder in connection with the shooting..
