A 41 year old Pell City woman is being held  in the St. Clair County Jail after being indicted by a grand jury in the 2012 murder of a 39 year old Pell City woman. Authorities say that  Dannette Campbell Watkins, was driving a 2000 GMC Safari on the night of December 16th 2012, when she struck the driver’s side door of the 2007 Ford Taurus driven by Cathy Harris.  Harris was crossing U.S. 231 on 19th Street when Watkins allegedly failed to stop for the red traffic light and struck Harris’ vehicle.   Harris was transported to University Hospital in Birmingham where she was pronounced dead.  The grand jury found that Watkins recklessly engage in conduct, which manifested extreme indifference to human life and created a grave risk of death to a person other than therself and did thereby cause the death of Cathy Harris
Watkins is currently being held at the St. Clair County Jail with a $100,000 bond.
