Belle foods to sell stores including Gadsden Food World

Birmingham-based Belle Foods announced Wednesday they will be selling the companies remaining 44 stores in three states, including the Food World on Rainbow Drive in Gadsden, as part of its bankruptcy case.  Belle Foods said it had reached an agreement to sell the stores as part of a financing deal with C&S Wholesale Grocers Inc., its largest creditor.  The company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection this month. It had more than 2,800 employees at the time.  Belle Foods has stores in Alabama , Georgia and Mississippi  operating under the names of Belle Foods, Food World, Piggly Wiggly and Southern Family.
