Two women charged with chemical endagerment of a child

Two Etowah County woman have been arrested and charged with chemical endangerment of a child in two separate incidents.    26 year old Susan Emily Ann Ellis  of Rainbow City, is charged with one felony count of chemical endangerment of exposing a child to an environment in which controlled substances are ingested, produced or distributed.  Ellis was taken to Gadsden Regional Medical Center for a possible overdose of Klonopin.  The medication belonged to Ellis’s deceased grandmother.  She was 22 weeks pregnant at the time of the incident, which occurred on July 16.  Ellis was booked into the Etowah County Detention Center and later released on a $5,000 property bond. She is now required to report for drug testing.36 year old Kimberly Dawn Roden, of Altoona has been charged with one felony  count of chemical endangerment of exposing a child to an environment in which controlled substances are ingested, produced or distributed.  Roden admitted to ingesting loratabs and smoking marijuana during her pregnancy.  Her child was delivered prematurely in June and remains in a Birmingham hospital.  Roden was booked into the Etowah County Detention Center and later released on a $20,000 property bond.
