Weaver prepares for road projects

The Weaver city council voted Tuesday to hire an engineering firm to do consulting work on downtown road improvement projects for the city.  According to Mayor Wayne Willis, the city plans to resurface main street, Astor Drive and Alexandria Road which would include adding sidewalks on main street and correcting drainage issues in the area.  Downtown Weaver inched closer to a complete aesthetic and engineering makeover Tuesday night at the Weaver City Council meeting.  The City Council approved hiring CDG Engineers selected from a list provided by  the Alabama Department of Transportation. Weaver Mayor Wayne Willis said his goal is to have equipment ready to resurface Main Street by January.   Willis said the project will enhance the appearance of downtown where the Chief Ladiga Trail crosses Main Street. A new grocery store is expected to open up in the area before the end of the year as well.
