Director of Cherokee County STAR Probram arrested on sex abuse charges

Rainbow City Police report the arrest of The director of the Cherokee County STAR program on sexual abuse charges.  48 year old   The James M. Barrie Center notified Rainbow City investigators about an upcoming juvenile interview and as a result of the interview, investigators were able to get a second-degree sexual abuse warrant on Gramling.  Police  said the investigation is ongoing and more interviews are expected over the next few days. Investigators are asking anyone with information about this case to call the detective division at 256-413-1234.
Phillip Wayne Gramling, of Rainbow City, is charged with second-degree sexual abuse, which is a Class A misdemeanor. The STAR program, which stands for Saving Teens At Risk, is a program designed to help 12- to 17-year-olds transition back into high school to earn their degree or work towards their GED.
