Piedmont man killed in Monday accident

Authorities say A two car accident Monday evening claimed the life of a Piedmont man. According to Calhoun County Coroner, Pat Brown, the accident took place on Alabama 144 in Ohatchee Monday evening when 23 year old Jeremy Owens car collided with another vehicle while he was driving west of Ember Lane.  The other vehicle left the highway and struck a tree.  That driver was taken to an Anniston hospital. Owen was not wearing his seatbelt and was the only person in the vehicle.  Brown pronounced Owen dead at the scene.
