Sylacauga police say A 78-year-old Oxford man was arrested
May 8 and has been charged with sodomy in the first degree. Gerald Edward Amason of Oxford was indicted
by a Talladega County grand jury. Amason was arrested by the Talladega County
Sheriff’s Department and transported to the Talladega County Jail. Bond was set
at $100,000. Sylacauga Police said the
case stems from Sylacauga but declined to provide further case details. Sodomy in the first degree is a Class A
felony, punishable upon conviction by a sentence of 10 years to life in prison.
