Etowah County officials say a Gadsden teen died Friday night
after being hit by a vehicle.
15-year-old Justice Garrett was trying to cross the street
at Tidmore Bend Road at Chadwick Street when she was struck by a SUV.
Etowah County Deputy Coroner Michael Head says the road was
very dark and Garrett was wearing dark clothing. Deputy Coroner Head believes
she hit her head on the side of the vehicle. Head does not suspect foul play
and says this was an accident.
This incident happened around 8:05 p.m.; Garrett later died
at Gadsden Regional Medical Center around 10:04 p.m. Police will continue to
investigate.
