General Dynamics Land Systems has landed a $163 million Army
contract to continue conversions on Stryker infantry combat vehicles at
Anniston Army Depot. The contract, awarded by the U.S. Army TACOM Life Cycle Management
Command, includes the conversion of 93 flat-bottom Stryker infantry combat
vehicles to newer, more survivable double-V hull designs. The new contract
covers the project through March 2016, with the vast majority of work being
done in Anniston at the Anniston Army Depot. Additional work will be performed
at General Dynamics locations in Lima, Ohio and Scranton, Penn. About 80 people
are employed on the Stryker program at Anniston Army Depot. Previous contract delays led to layoffs of
General Dynamics workers at Anniston last year. Senator Richard Shelby said
This new award should prevent that from happening in the future.
