Etowah officials investigating fire death

Officials in Etowah County are conducting an investigation into a fatal fire that happened Sunday morning in the Coates Bend community in Gadsden. The body of an adult, white male was found inside a residence on Speedy Lane.  The Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences will conduct an autopsy. The investigation into the cause of the fire is still ongoing.  The Etowah County Sheriff’s Office, Etowah County Arson Task Force, State Fire Marshals, Coates Bend Volunteer Fire Department, Tidmore Bend Volunteer Fire Department, A-Med Ambulance and the Etowah County Coroner’s Office all assisted with this investigation.
