Hearing cancelled for former Gadsden pastor accused in wifes murder

Rev. Terry Lee Greer

Court officials have postponed a pretrial hearing to help determine whether a former Gardendale pastor is mentally competent to stand trial in the shootings of his wife and daughter.  The hearing for Terry Lee Greer scheduled Wednesday in Jefferson County Circuit Court had to be canceled. Greer is charged with fatally shooting his wife, shooting his 18-year-old daughter and stabbing himself 17 times before police could intervene in January 2013. Greer’s wounded daughter was able to take the gun from him and call for help from a neighbor’s house.  Greer became pastor of Central United Methodist Church in Gadsden in 1997, and was instrumental in the church’s move in 2002 to Rainbow City, where it was renamed Christ Central Church. He left in 2004 for the pastorate in Decatur.
