A Gadsden man was arrested for rape in the first degree
stemming from an incident at the Talladega Superspeedway over the weekend. According to Talladega County Sheriff Jimmy
Kilgore, the victim was an adult female who was attacked in the North
Campground early Sunday morning. The suspect was apprehended and arrested the
same day. The suspect’s bond was set at
$250,000. Kilgore said the rape was the
only violent crime reported over the weekend. The only other felony arrest was
for possession of a controlled substance.
Altogether, the sheriff’s office made 28 arrests related to the race,
primarily for the public intoxication, disorderly conduct and six cases of
driving under the influence. Alabama
