Alert neighbor leads to arrests of burglary suspects in Southside

Southside police say an alert neighbor led to the  arrest of two alleged burglars Friday inside a residence on Vista Trail.
The neighbor called police saying a neighbor’s home was being burglarized, and described a black Toyota Camry in the neighbor’s driveway.
Police responded quickly, and surprised two men who’d apparently kicked the door in and forced their way into the residence. Items in the house had been “messed up,” but police were able to interrupt the burglary before property had been removed.
Police took the two men into custody.
23 year old Worlando La’Rey Cole,  of Gadsden and 27 year old Darius Reginal Jones, of Gadsden, have been booked into the Etowah County Detention Center charged with third-degree burglary.
police are investigating an attempted burglary on Cedar Bend Road. That incident also occurred Friday, but investigators are not sure if it was related to the Vista Trail break-in.
