Officer hearing ends, civil service board to make decision

Testimony wrapped up Thursday in the appeal hearing for a fired Anniston police officer.  Officer Josh Doggrell went before Anniston's civil service board to say that while he is a member of The League of the South, that doesn't mean he shares all of the group's beliefs. Doggrell also argued that his affiliation with the organization some see as a hate group is something city leaders have been aware of for many years.
Anniston city attorneys argue that because Doggrell was discussing police matters at a League of the South event in 2013, some could view the city of Anniston as being tied to the group. Doggrell's attorney says he's hopeful his client will reclaim his job.

Doggrells attorney, Kenneth Shinbaum said "Josh Doggrell has always been fair to all employees of the police department, all citizens, he's never mistreated anyone,". "Never any complaints."

Shinbaum plans to file an appeal if Doggrell isn't given his job back.
