An Anniston man set to go on trial next week pleaded guilty
Wednesday to a child abuse charge involving a toddler.
30 year old Jeremy Wilbanks,
was sentenced to seven years in prison with a $2,500 fine for a child
abuse charge. Wilbanks was arrested July 2014 in connection to the abuse of his
then girlfriend’s 2-year-old daughter. He was charged with one count of child
abuse and one count of aggravated child abuse. A medical exam showed two
fractures on the girl’s ribs, bruises, and old and new cigarette burns on her
hands, feet and abdomen, police said after the arrest. Wilbanks previously
entered a plea of not guilty in January.
