Attalla man, former Ashville coach killed in crash

A two-vehicle accident in St. Clair County on Wednesday claimed the life of an Attalla man, Alabama State Troopers said.

57 year old Julius Vann Cook,  died around 9:35 p.m. Wednesday when the car he was driving collided with an 18-wheeler on U.S. 231 approximately six miles north of Pell City. A passenger in Cook's car was taken to UAB Hospital with serious injuries, authorities said. Cook was a former coach at Ashville High School

 No other injuries were reported in the crash.

The cause of the wreck remains under investigation.
