Gadsden City Council to revise plans for school paving projects

he Gadsden City council Tuesday approved an agreement to revise plans for a safe routes to schools project after bids for the planned improvements near Eura Brown Elementary School came in over budget. City Engineer Chad Hare told the council the project, which primarily involves sidewalk improvements, will have to be rebid. The $60,602 grant does not require matching funds. Hare said the project would include adding a sidewalk to a stretch of Alpine View that is used as a pickup and dropoff area. He said some items such as speed indicator signs and planters will be dropped from the project because of cost.
