After
delays involving the site, officials say that construction of the
new Sam’s Club in Oxford is set to begin before the end of the
year. The cost saving club will be located beside Kohl’s in the
Oxford Exchange. Sam’s Club Public Relations Manager Mark Scott
says the new store is expected to create 175 jobs for the Oxford
community. They hope to open their doors in the summer 2014. Oxford
Mayor Leon Smith says the city is ready for the development to take
shape.
The city spent 2.6 million dollars on site preparation for the
business. An issue involving the foundation on the site had caused
delays on the construction.
