Anniston Police have arrested the
mother of a
four-month-old boy
who they say died Friday from
heat exposure in a vehicle. 35 year old Katherine Papke, of
Anniston, was arrested Friday and charged with manslaughter and
leaving a child unattended in a vehicle. She was released Saturday
from Anniston City Jail on $100,000 bond. Police said the incident
Friday afternoon happened in the 400 block of Goode Road on the old
Fort McClellan property. Police did not release any other details
immediately about how the child was discovered, or the child's name.
Police said the department would probably release more details later
when preliminary autopsy results are released, which could be later
today.
