A 28 year old Talladega man has been
arrested for attempted felony assault in the first degree in
connection with the July 31 assault on a police officer.
Christopher Yates, was served with a warrant on the felony
assault charge Tuesday. The incident led to the officer-involved
shooting currently being investigated by the Alabama Bureau of
Investigation. The incident appears to have taken place in a
heavily wooded area off Chinnabee Road after a car chase. Yates was
transported to University Hospital in Birmingham by LifeSaver
Helicopter with injuries that were described at the time as
non-life-threatening. Once the ABI investigation is complete, the
findings will be turned over to Talladega County District Attorney
Steve Giddens, who will present them to a grand jury.
