Sylacauga assault case upgraded to homocide

Sylacauga police are now investigating an assault as a homicide case after the victim died two days ago at the hospital. The original assault happened on July 9 in the 900 block of Goodwater Highway. Police say the victim, Oliver Onario Jennings, was shot by an unknown person sometime early in the morning. Jennings was taken to UAB Hospital for treatment. He died from his injuries on Monday, Aug. 5. Police Chief Chris M. Carden said the investigation is on-going. Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Sylacauga Police Department.
