Remains found in Pell City identified
Authorities say that human remains discovered in Pell City last Friday have been identified as a man who has been missing since April
2012. Thru dental records, the St. Clair County Coroner determined
the remains found in a wooded area near the Fox Hollow subdivision on
Aug. 2 are those of 21-year-old Forrest Ammel. It is believed that
Ammel died from a gunshot wound to the head, but investigators have
yet to determine if his death was a homicide or suicide. Pell City
police recovered a gun, cell phone and identification card near the
skeletal remains. An investigation by police and the Alabama Bureau
of Investigation is ongoing.
