Remains found in Pell City believed to be those of missing man

Authorities say they suspect that skeletal remains found in a wooded area friday is a man who was reported missing more than a year ago. A missing person report was filed in april 2012 for 21 year old Forrest Ammel, of Pell City. Ammel was a cook at the Waffle House in Pell City, and was last seen wearing black lounge plants, a white undershirt and black waffle shoes. Authorities said the skeleton remains were found by two children playing in a wooded area off 20th Street North. St. Clair County Coroner Dennis Russell said Monday it could be Thursday before the remains are positively identified by the Department of Forensic Sciences and the cause of death is determined. Police say that a cell phone, identification card and a firearm were recovered from the scene. The skeleton remains were found about a half mile off 20th Street North in very rugged terrain.
