The
proposed construction on a new Sardis Middle school has hit a delay
after the Etowah county board of education Tuesday reject all bids on
the project which officials say could delay the project by a couple
of months. Etowah County School Superintendent Alan Cosby said the
bids were too high, and officials plan to meet with the architect by
the end of the week to make some changes to a few specifications. He
said the possible changes will not affect the structure, but could
save a lot of money. School officials said the Construction of the
new middle school is needed to address increasing enrollment at
Carlisle Elementary, Whitesboro Elementary and Sardis High schools.
The school was projected to be open by the beginning of the 2014
school year, but the need to reject the bids could delay that some.
